I’m seriously considering sticking with 15-20 mile races in the future- less wear and tear, less suffering and quicker recovery- we’ll see.
I see plans for a 100 miler in your future
About the trekking poles. I find they are a decent help for climbing, but a major help on the descents. For a race like that I wouldn't be without them. They really save your legs, and for me, the ankles.
running under the BigSky
yeah this group is great for helping with moderation
I use poles all the time hiking, but not very often running- definitely need to experiment more with them running

Go figure
The creek hoppers drive me nuts! I guess I shouldn't judge as I'm just fortunate to not be afflicted with feet that blister, but it seems like if you're out trail running, you should just go through it.
Nice work on the tough course. It's hard to hold back early, but when you know what's coming and can trust what you're doing, it definitely helps.
As for picking the shorter route in future...no shame in doing that! As long as you feel good with the accomplishment, there's no reason not to run the other distance.
Anyway, nice job on this one.
Trying to find some more hay to restock the barn
