Lace: I think you will really enjoy coming out of Leatham Hollow. Even I can run fast on that part. The parts of the course I have seen are just amazingly beautiful. The climb I was referring to is between Temple Fork and Tony Grove. I think the Temple Fork AS is right there by the side of the road. I haven't been there for the race. We just ran through the mountains and took a few detours off the course. It was a great adventure.

    Endless trails

That moon was pretty cool last night! SRD for me today.

QOTD: I really like the long gradual uphills and the resulting training payoff from that. Steep

and technical is less funner for me.

        Doing 3 and weights today.

QOTD: I''ll answer something new: rocky trails. I love running downhill and have decent patience with uphills although it gets boring if I go too long without running. My weakness is that my feet get banged up on small rocks.

+2 on the moon looking cool last night.

QOTD.  The long uphills early in the run.  Yeah steep hiking is tough, but those grades where I think "i should be running this"  are the real mental challenges.  Sometimes when it is really technical and gnarly I feel at an advantage.

Last night my calves and shins were on fire for the first 2 miles/20 minutes.  Then once we topped out in the rollers, I felt much better. running back down that grade really made an impression as I felt so much faster.

Eat to run, Run to eat

4.8 really sucky miles on the road at work.  Calves and butt were hurting (enough to make we walk it out!)

for no good reason , except that I'm tapering.  With such a rotten taper, it'll be a good race I'm sure.

QOTD:  I'm a big guy, so steep uphills, and gravity, get me.  I train on technical trails, so I love them and I can really move downhill (once again gravity).

+1. At 6'2" and 210 lbs,  I'm like an 18 wheeler on a mountain road,  Low gear uphill, but down hill ..."Look out below!!"

think I'm getting over my cold, if so I'll do strength training this evening

qotd: I need to improve my power walking uphill, I also need to improve my technical

              Uh oh... now what?

"Snow levels in the mountains will range between 5500 and 6000 feet
Sunday and Sunday night. Hikers and those with *****other outdoor
interests in the mountains***** should be prepared for a sudden change
                in the weather."

At 1:44 pm PDT, 22 September 2013, summer departs in the northlands.

"Windy conditions can be expected along the coast and in the north

interior from the Admiralty Inlet area northward. Winds of 20 to
35 mph with gusts around 50 mph are expected in these areas Sunday
afternoon and Sunday evening. Deciduous trees still have their
leaves... and this is the first good front of the season... so weak
small tree branches will likely be pruned by the front..."

I just completed a 9-mile circuit today trying to decide which trails

would need one more pass with trimming utensils.  I'll probably need

                to check again Monday morning.

Hope you all enjoy the last gasps of summer

QOTD:  Downhills with loose rock.  I cannot do those anymore, not running.
