Great report. I want to get out there and do it sometime. I'll most likely opt for the 50 miler.
Sounds like a lot of folks had a tough day. Congratulations on your finish.

Prepping at the Start, Getting Serious
Hey, a running photo. Still fresh. Getting ready to ditch the singlet.
Blurred but still moving
In dog beers, I've only had one.
what happened to the arm panties, XT?
It seems the arm panties were not very popular in northern MN, so I left my matching pair of baby blues in the car. Sort of warm for arm panties anyway though there were plenty of dangerous UV rays.
Eat to run, Run to eat
Thanks for the photos, I've added them to my wallpaper collection..except for the ones you are in....that would just be weird.
Congratulations again.

Thinking about Superior so I pulled up this report. I may sign up or I may resign myself yo hobby jogger. Was this your last 100?

You should so do this! I, of course, have done nothing like this... but when I contemplated training for a 100 this was one I wanted to do. I can live vicariously through you!

It's a great race, Sue. It's pretty brutal though! Highly recommended.
Running is dumb.
Do it! (And I'll happily come crew for you . Maybe you could convince Harrier & Mandy, too )
Have you done this?
Big undertaking, tough run. My only experience is with the last part of the course. I've done 2 50k's there in the spring and 2 fall marathons. Have also been entered in 2 more marathons but DNS'd them as I knew my training at the time wasn't up to the course challenge including a this past Sept.
I think I'll be around and living up north. Lutsen is about 4.5 hrs away. I'll volunteer to pace you on the last 26 miles if you need one and no one else is able and you're desperate.
I have run about 60 miles of the course. I also crewed/paced back in 2012.
Nope. I ran Laurel Highlands a few times and Mohican 100 after this race.
There is also a 50 mile and trail marathon on the same course that weekend. Of course the 100 is full enchilada and you get to see more of the trail that way. 100 miles of point to point trail goodness. Still puzzled why that course felt so much more difficult then MMT. Elevation change was similar, maybe more frequent smaller doses. It was unusually hot the year I ran... 85+ both days. Could have been it but I do somewhat ok in the heat. Very challenging as others have said but the cutoff (38 hours) is long too. If you like that part of the country you should do it. My only negative comments (other than the slightly whacky and weird RD) was the first 2 aid stations were a long hauls and they served heed. Everything else was great, especially the most important part, the course.
I did this race in 2015 and unlike XT I need most of that 38 hour cut off. I finished in 34, by far the toughest race I ve done. ( disclaimer: this is coming from a flatlander)
been thinking I woild like to return and see if I could do better now that I have a few 100 under my belt
Piece of advice: if your serious and plan on booking a room in the resort, call now and reserve it the rooms in the resort go fast. When I ran it I ended up with a room way out in BFE
