I'm not running today, but whatever, I'll start the dailies anyway.    Annual review at work today and I got myself a raise, so it's a good Wednesday!

QOTD: What's something you hate that's popular and/or everyone else seems to love?

    Running is dumb.

    TrailProf

    Le professeur de trail

Morning Mandy.  I recently had my review and got a raise too! Woo Hoo! They have been decreasing the "max raise" one can get.  So a few years back it was 3% then chopped to 2.5%.  This year the max is 2.4%.  Huh? They took it down 0.1%?!? What is that about.  But my supervisor like me and I work hard (except when I am posting on here) so I always get the max.

I ran a tempoish 3 miles last night.  I plan on running the same 5k circuit in my neighborhood 1x weekly to attempt to gain back what little speed I used to have.  I ran the course 8 seconds faster this week than last week.  Progress...

QOTD: Hmmm....I don't like too many things that are popular. I try to keep things simple.  (see my qotd from the other day) - I don't like smartphones (this may change one day).  I don't really like facebook.  I really do not care what you had for breakfast or that you just had a brain fart.  I am only on to connect to certain people and certain PA running groups.  I generally do not care about the "popular" music or TV shows.  I think most are popular because of societal peer pressure not because of talent.  Ok, I will stop there.....this could go on for a while.

      Have a great day!

      Endless trails

        Morning, kids

I'm heading out for a few hilly road miles. The other day I was checking

out a new trail, I parked at the trailhead and walked a few hundred feet

in. I saw a big guy coming down, so I waited for him to ask about the trail.

Turns out the dude recently lost 100 pounds, and is now just shy of 300

pounds. He used to be a powerlifter, hurt his back, gained weight, and is
using this trail/hill to hike everyday. I was inspired!

QOTD: Facebook, CNN, Fox News, Twitter, or did you say one thing?

        AT-runner

        Tim

          Good morning.

Started my day by getting a call from my handicapped sister as she was stuck on the bathroom floor after a fall.  She's been recovering from a long hospital stay, for congestive heart failure, and didn't have strength to get up.  I rushed over and was able to get her up but in the process likely broke one of her ribs.  I know all the proper lifting techniques, but she zigged when she I thought she was going to zag.  It's not often someone thanks you for braking a rib.

As far as running, I'm going for a long walk today at lunch.  Need to work the walking muscles a bit more.

QOTD:  Besides Justin Bieber, I'm going to say Country Music.  I just don't get it and I've tried to like it.  I just a classic rock guy, I guess.

          “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

          Daydreamer1

I was planning on going for a short 4.5 mile road run before I head off to work, however, its 34 degrees outside and just started raining . Had a good 12.5 mile run up on the mountain yesterday and another scheduled for tomorrow when It's a lot warmer so maybe I'll stay inside and do some balance and strength training.

Congrats on the raises!!! More money for running gear .

QOTD: Police shows. Especially Law and Order. The people at work always have it on. I have dozens of reasons why I hate it, too many to go into here.  Not a fan of Facebook and the selfie craze. Don't really have a problem with selfies, just that some people seem to take dozens of them a day, then immediately post them.

Did 8.5 on some trails this morning, then cut it short because  a freezing type rain started.

AT hope everything works out for the best for your sister!

QOTD #####PEOPLE THAT HASH TAG EVERYTHING #####

              NorthernHarrier

Kind of a crappy morning early on so I skipped the run and did a decent workout in the man cave. Thought about an easy run around the hood but I just figured another day of resting the legs would be better than some useless miles.

Jonfer--nice to see you posting again.

Mandy--So with the raise I assume you'll be buying lunch next time we run.

QOTD--  Well Facebook is too obvious for me  so my big hate is/are ATV's.  Lazy slobs out there trashing public lands. Hate isn't even a strong enough word for me.  (not sure I can say everyone loves them but they certainly have gained in popularity)

                Gator eye

Beer hell, a raise should be beer worthy.

Me and Mr Jangles dis 8 on the road real early this am to beat the freezing rain.

                  QOTD, Facebook.

                  sugnim

Howdy all.  I had a nice 4 mile pre-dawn run with my dog along the river this morning.  It was snowing lightly and the river was full and rushing.  No one else was on the trail.

QOTD: Football.  It's like a religion in my town.  I absolutely hate football & the culture that surrounds it.  (I will now duck the various objects being thrown my way.)

                    Mandy: Congrats on the raise!

AT: I hope your sister recovers quickly.  I've heard that broken ribs are very painful.

Hating on football?? Really?? I'll have to have Tom Brady throw several footballs at you for that . But don't be too concerned. They won't hurt as they'll be under inflated .

I like the sport, but fully understand your hatred of the culture. DW wanted to go to a game just so she could say she had been to one but I won't go because the way the idiot fans act.

8 miles on the trails last night at French Creek park in balmy spring like temps of 35 degrees. It was an enjoyable run regardless as the trails were snow/ice free for the most part and the mud and muck was confined to the normal places. Ran 5.5 decent road miles at lunch and finished up just as the drizzle began. I'll do 5 or  6 more tonight on the trail with the Lady, I think over at Coventry Woods.

QOTD: Well, I guess smart phone. I really don't hate the smart phone so much as puzzle about society as a whole and how the contraption is so wired into people's lives. The forever staring and swiping and typing. Thus am still a hold out with a flip phone. Twitter accounts, tweets, twats, and hash tags are a close second.

Mandy - Cheers on the raise!

BoyJame - I had cereal and blueberries for breakfast!

In dog beers, I've only had one.

Just returned from a hot yoga class.  Still have that month membership  .  I'll go out for 4 miles tonight during the kid's swim practice.  It'll be warmer and nicer out in a few hours.

qotd:  Filled donuts of any kind (jelly, custard)-- just ugh.  Oh, and cantaloupe.  Can we rid the world of cantaloupe?

Ha.  I just went back and saw yesterday's QOTD.  I might not have posted what I did today if I had known....

Running with the group after work...I don't know how long or far as the email said we'll meet at broad street parking lot at 5:30.  For all I know she accidently sent an email to the running group intended for her drug dealer or lover.

QOTD:  Hokas...they are funny looking and expensive and people who run 10Ks are buying them.  I don't get it, never tried it, so my logic for hating them makes no sense at all.

No run, the weather is too bad.  34 degrees and rain, so I've decided it's not possible to run now. Watching the Cat with the Hat instead, in honor of "Dr. Seuss Day" at the kids' school today.

Did 6 speedy miles, some with DD yesterday, it was wonderful. Not quite shorts weather yet (at least not for me), but sunny, and - beats all - no wind!!

I saw the high school's track teams (boys and girls) on their runs yesterday and noticed something peculiar: girls all dressed in tights and jackets, only colors were black, pink and white. Boys all in shorts and short- or long-sleeve shirts, in all colors imaginable. Coincidence?

DD told me it's probably a combination of peer pressure and small-town limited availability of gear, at least for the girls' team.  Oh... Glad I have only boys to buy sports apparel for in the future!

Jamie, Mandy: Congrats on the raises!

QOTD: The "and-what-not" phrase. Drives me crazy - even worse than the youngsters' "Whatever..."!

                                Run for fun.
