LB2

I ran a 2.1 mile loop thingy this morning. It was a little sluggish. I am having a sharp pain in the top of my left foot. It only bothers me when I first get up in the morning and a little bit right before I go to bed. It does not bother me when I run. I'll keep an eye on it, but I think it is just a little niggle.

    QOTD: July mileage?

    75. That isn't much, but it is more than I have gotten since the year started.

    I lost my rama

LB2 - That's a strange spot to get a niggle.  Hope it goes away soon and isn't anything serious.  Also, not bad mileage for your neck of the woods.

dhuffman - (from yesterday) Nice work just getting miles in while travelling.  I've had TM's auto-stop at 60 minutes before, but not 30.  In any case, I avoid the TM if at all possible.

QOTD:  166, which is the first month this year below 200.  I think AT stole my missing miles.

7 or 8 easy on trail after work tonight.  I was surprised I felt pretty good last night after all the pavement pounding the past weekend, but not complaining!

      3/17 - NYC Half

4/28 - Big Sur Marathon  DNS

      6/29 - Forbidden Forest 30 Hour

8/29 - A Race for the Ages - will be given 47 hours

4+ last night....with the pen light again!  Kids don't get back from camp until Friday with my flashlights so I will have to make do.

LB2 - I have had strange pains at the top of a foot from time to time.  I never thought much of it because it never persisted but certainly was odd.  Hopefully it goes away for you.

QOTD: Ended at 111 ( yes 111 not 11) which is better mileage than I have had in a while.  I am hoping August is over 150.  I got a race to train for now!

        Have a great hump day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

        Trails

QOTD: 74 which is my lowest also but I took the first week completely off and visited my parents then a very low mileage week on return but I'm back to in the 30's.

LB2 I've had that niggle before...thought it was due to tying my shoe too tight but after a month it just went away and I didn't do anything different....our bodies can be weird.

I did 3 miles on the hotel TM again...getting up at 5 am is not my favorite but I think I might make it a habit once I get back so I can do double runs per day.  I need to build up miles before my first 50 miler and don't want to injure myself along the way.

Lunch run in the sticky humidity. It's back!!!

LB - hope it's just a passing thing.

Bert - On Sunday, DW and I passed 2 Korean men section hiking on the AT like they were being chased.  They barely said "hello".  1 mile later we came up to 3 Korean women (also section hikers) who were laughing and having a blast. We stopped and talked to them and said "looks like the men left you".  The laughed and said  "Korean custom".  Not sure if that was a joke, or she meant it, but the woman looked to be having more fun.

            Jamie - 111 miles?

dh - take it slow with doubles. It takes a bit to get used to them.

QOTD:  203.  Yea!!!  That's close to my normal July mileage and the most since Lyme.

            “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

              10 this morning.

LB2, pretty appropriate title today. Last night DD and her friend were sent off to the Mongol Derby in style at Houston’s big airport. They were escorted by 6 other riders. Only in Texas....

qotd: 142, not too bad considering all my struggles and one week was 6 mi in total.

              tbd.

Hola! Pool yesterday was interesting. Some movements are a little more difficult than I thought they’d be after surgery.

Today is going to be a walk and healthy eating choices.

                  Tim- nicely done!

Sandy- neat; something they would do in Montana too Smile

4.4 miles with Tiny Elvis, good heat training. Elvis managed to get into some pine pitch- in one of his paws and an armpit????  Anyways that’s going to be a slow process getting rid of it.

Strength train this evening- taper time.

                  qotd: 136 which is where I want it to be (~ 30 miles/week), Tiny E got 90!

That's pretty funny.  I'm probably most surprised that the men didn't have a lit cigarette hanging from their lips.  I don't know if the women were kidding or not, but I'd lean toward not.... Korean customs are very much gender-based, even if we can't make sense out of them.  I've stopped trying.

                    Nice work last month too.

Dr. Jamie - 16 weeks to go!

Sandy - Yep, only in Texas.  That's an awesome sendoff!  Glad you posted the pics.

warden - Yikes on Tiny E.  That must drive him crazy.  Nice miles though..... and you too.

I think this is the  Tracker for the Mongol Derby,  Can't wait to follow along. Go Devan!

Bird - I'm sure doc or PT told you, only flexion / extension stuff. Avoid anything like breaststroke kick in the pool. Good luck.

Postponed my mid-week long run until tomorrow because of forecast rain. It didn't rain all morning and the sun is out now. It will inevitably pour tomorrow morning.

Did some squats and deadlifts followed by 4 miles on the t-mill.

                        QOTD: 209. My highest ever!

That's how DW and I took it, but weren't sure. It was like "we're not good enough to hike with them".  The men were moving at a fast pace like it was a job, but the women were having more fun.

I ran yesterday.  Will probably go for a bike ride tonight.  And NorthernHarrier is supposedly dropping by my work this afternoon to loan me some trekking poles!  He keeps insisting I will love them...I don't even know how to use them!

QOTD: Well, thank god Birdwell is here now so I don't have to continue to be the caboose of this train.  27 miles for me for July.  15 hours of PT is a lot of PT time in a month.  Even after my hip surgery, I'm not sure I put in 15 hours/month.

                            Running is dumb.

Oh, I've never been accused of being normal.

As far as health, I'd say 95%.  Still get some tired days, but from people I know who've had full blown Lyme, that might never go away. I'm just thankful I'm off the meds.  Have a friend who's just started a new 120 day regimen of antibiotics for his Lyme symptoms. He was diagnosed last year and had less symptoms at the start than I did, but did not respond to the initial dosed of doxy.
