Have you been watching too much Heston Blumenthal again Jerry? I am trying to work it out, but I am not on your wave-length today Confused
        Hmmm........ *ponders the connection* Confused
          Something about tapering??? Tapir-ing??
Full marks Lizzie 1) Tapir 2) Tapas 3) Taper Big grin I have been told I am doing a little too much and under instruction to start tapering today. So off to the club on Tuesday for a 10 km road run and then a 10 miler on Thursday and then 22 miles on Sunday and then NOTHING until 11/4/09.

Yay! I have to be honest and say I didn't get the second one - I assumed it was something to do with carb-loading! I also love how a 22 mile run is mentioned in a post about tapering!

Big grin Big grin Big grin Hee hee I am loving that little wind up, there is a guy at our club who likes to make lots of noise about how hard he is working in preparation for the Paris Marathon next week (something a lot of us can't afford) and so we drop these little comments in once in a while...naughty I know Evil grin

Hah you're so mean Jerry! I have a friend doing the Paris Marathon next week and his girlfriend is going out with him to enjoy the scenery! I need to get Huw doing these international events!
My friend from work spent the weekend in Paris last week she reported circa £8-00 per pint ....................count me out! Well done Jerry enjoy a well earned taper.

I'm working in Europe at present (most weeks I'm in France, Germany, Belgium or Egypt) - the price of everything is really quite scary as the € is so strong against the £. I'm also personally well aware of this as I'm buying a place in France (ready for when I can retire) ... lots of good running in the alps ... Big grin ... but the exchange rate is killing me. Confused ... sadly I decided to buy and got things started before all this financial stuff kicked off. If anyone is interested you can see the place (which will be ready for rental holidays from 1st August) at www.anpie-samoens.com Neil both Big grin and Angry

                        Running ... just keep running!
Fancy a holiday running in the French Alps?

Tank u I am still smiling at Pippa's comment about Heston Blumenthal and thinking how he would cook a Tapir Shocked Probably in liquid nitrogenTongue

I think I have had too much sun to the brain today Blush I have to admit I was thinking ant eater not tapir, durrrrhhhhhh also didn't Heston make some candles which were edible? Thats what I was thinking of. I am really impressed with Lizzy, I bet she is a whizz at crosswords! Any way, in my defence, looks more like a buffett than tapas! Wink
Jerry - I was about to give you a b*ll*cking for running a 22 miler the week before your race... I really do hope it was a joke!

What was the secret, they wanted to know; in a thousand different ways they wanted to know The Secret. And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of his training shoes. The Trial of Miles; Miles of Trials

There is an organised club run of 22 miles on Sunday and I have been asked along to it....I am however really not up for it, after all it is a road runEvil grin You are right I know and I will mention it to George as he really wants to do it, I will probably go for a light trail run instead.
