OK, this one has me.... (Read 453 times)

Looking at this picture of a Raidlight 'Optimum Energy' Bumbag it says it has 2 gel bottles

What is a gel bottle when it is at home and what do you put in it ? I have seen a few people with little bottles on a  belt, a bit like a Bat Belt with pink liquid, what's that all about?

      Hi Jerry

Empty 4 or 5 Gel Sachets into each bottle and then just have a squeeze from them as and when required. I suppose it saves on opening and carrying the empty Gel Sachets, you could probably fill one with concentrated

energy drink and squeeze into a full bottle of water at checkpoints or such like.

How is your training going? Are you doing any smaller races before L2B? I myself am somewhat knackered, last 3 weeks have been hard, with 65miles last week (most i have ever done) so am glad this week is a cycle down week of 38miles. Blimey i remember the time 38miles was a medium to heavy mileage week!!!!

        Oh I see...

As for training, mine was halted slightly last week as we went to Paris for a few days, I did run when out there one morning but we walked miles.

I went for an 18.5 miler yesterday which was a very hilly course without any gels or carb replacement stuff...well a cup of tea with 2 sugars at the halfway point and today my legs are a stiff as a door post and generally feel tired. So resting up today and hope to be up to 55 miles this week by increasing my back to back on Thursday and Friday.

No more races for me until L2B, this month is all about upping the miles and then taking the 3 weeks in September to taper well, I am just paranoid about injuries now.
