Good idea. No swim today although it was scheduled, could not get to the pool and get my carpool to work.

      Slo_Hand -- great workout!

Great idea Slo_hand.  I unfortunately have not been swimming much lately.  I need to "rejoin" my masters group and keep saying I'm going to.

I do plan on getting a swim in on Sunday, going to be staying at a hotel with a local gym attached that we get free access to.  Supposed to be a good lap pool, so I intend to be up early and give it a good work out.

Then hopefully next week back to Master's Class!  I am supposedly going to do an OWS competition the end of June and I'd better start getting ready for it if that's really going to happen.

I was kaput at that point.  Bad swim today.  I was supposed to do about 350 more yards but just couldn't hack it.  Felt sick of having water in my face (and I rested yesterday).  Blah.

                    Touch and Go

Based on the principle that the longer the vessel the easier it slips through the water.

You want to hold pull arm out in front of you keeping you vessel lengthened as long as you can. With the touch and go you do not begin your pull until your recovery arm has entered the water and you touch both hands together out in front of you. Thats not the actual timing your looking for in your regular front crawl but it helps implant the feeling of keeping you arm extended. I do'nt have the time right now but later I will try to link to some videos of these drills.

                    Side drill

This is a blance drill. Depending on your school of thought, again trying to minimize the surface area to the water you want to spend more time on your side vs flat in the water. Think of a barge vs a v-hull. With the side drill you extend one arm out in front, keeping your head and eyes looking straight down turn your body to a balance point that has you mostly on your side......this works best with fins.....You should have your other arm against your side with your hand to your hip. One shoulder should be out of the water. Tis drill leads to the "switch" and "Triple Switch". Teaching you how to rotate your body in the water.

A very good example of these drills can be found in the Total Immersion Method of freestyle swimming.

Videos samples are going to be your best bet. You tube is full of swimming drill examples.

I'll be lucky to get any swimming in this coming week. Traveling for business.

Hotel pools generally are not very condusive to workouts.
