I'm confused by your "gulp"
Why would the 50 miler be more intimidating than a 24 hour race?
I'm confused by your "gulp" Why would the 50 miler be more intimidating than a 24 hour race?
--Well, the 50-miler makes me nervous for a few reasons: 1. You MUST do 50 miles within 12 hours. 2. Farthest race distance I have done is a 50K (took 5:50:00 to do) 3. I am a flatlander runner primarily, and JFK-50 starts out for 13 miles on a hilly and rocky section of the appalachian. 4. The weather in November can be pretty dang challenging some years...
Whereas with the "24 Hour", you WILL finish, it is just a matter of how many miles one can do. I expect to be able to get about 75-80 miles+ in the next 24-hour I do, but really, no pressure. Just keep moving the entire 24 + see where the mileage ends up.
--Also, part of the "gulp" is that the JFK-50 is in my mind the PREMIERE bucket list race that I want to do, and I don't want to DNF. But...I have put in many miles the past months and I do feel that I am ready for it.
--I may have exaggerated the "gulp" some, but it is hard to believe I am at a place now where the JFK-50 is doable for me. I'm really excited about it. (but for the first time ever, at least a little nervous about that particular race .)
-----EDRW: Thanks for updating! (Lots of great races listed by everyone!)
There's no reason you won't finish, do some hill training, take some s-caps, enjoy ticking the event off your bucket list.
4/27 = Flatrock 101K (AussieGirl76)
Correction, not that it matters:
3/15 - Three Days of Syllamo 50k (AussieGirl76)
3/16 - Three Days of Syllamo 50m (AussieGirl76) // it said 15th again
KLD - I don't think you'll have to worry about the cutoff, it seems all your PR's are being set recently. Based on your 30k last week your 50k and marathon times are extremely soft. Keep doing what you're doing and try to find a hill.
Picky, picky, picky
(Just heading out the door, but will fix this and add the others later this evening).
