Weekending (Read 11 times)

Anonymous Guest

I ran/walked 2.5 with the baby runners this morning, then ran another 4.5 solo to get 7 for the day. It was beautiful, low 50s, low wind, sunshine. I probably should have run more as tomorrow will not be as nice.

No weekend plans here. i need to clean more, run a little tomorrow, then front load my mileage next week as we're camping Thursday through Monday, then I'm traveling T-F. I guess the week after next will be a good time for a cutback week.

    Half Crazy K 2.0

I'm stupidly doing a HM tomorrow, rest day today. Plus the weather sucks. Maybe it's not too stupid, just seems that way. Before the pandemic, I got in the habit of starting to train for a race, have either a few bad runs or a bad race and then would pull the plug on the whole thing.

AnonymousGuest, nice run this morning. I'm guessing you've probably done this race before when you lived in MD. It's B&A.

I have no idea what day it is, so thanks for this post. Arrived home at 3 am.  Groggy and disoriented now.  Sleeping pill was probably too much but it definitely knocked me out, which is what I wanted after a long day of traveling. Good to be home.  Bronchitis is lingering, but so far, I haven’t popped out any rib cartilage (which usually happens). I think I’ll take another week off of running and cancel next weekend’s 25k.

Karen, nice start to the weekend.

HCK, seems like you’ve been running well lately, even with a few crappy weather setbacks. Have a good race!

I’ve got lots of laundry and house cleaning on tap for the weekend. DH  hit the grocery store early, bless him.

10 for me. TM since it's windy AF again. Tomorrow it should be better outside.

          Karen, nice run.

          HCK, good luck tomorrow!

Margaret, good luck with all of that!

HCK, yes! I ran B&A 3 or 4 times. Generally good cold (above freezing but below 50ish) weather, once it rained the entire time. Kind of boring if you need spectators, but I really liked it. Unless they've changed things, you can wait inside the high school until the last minute. Flat except for on hill around mile 7ish? I think. I always ran the half, I've heard the full gets really lonely. I did enjoy the half. Have fun.

Margaret, welcome home! That sounds exhausting. Luckily you still have Sunday to recover.

            D, nice 10.

            WINE o'clock somewhere!

Karen, nice 7 today.  I'm sure your baby runners appreciate you.  Yes, it was a wonderful day out!  Enjoy your weekend because it sounds like you're gonna be busy!!

Kathi, I hope the half goes better than expected for you!

Margaret, WELCOME BACK!  I saw some pics on FB, looks like you had a nice time.  Dad looked happy.  What a pain with getting sick.

Damaris, good on the 10, here's hoping to a nice day tomorrow for you.

Today was a fun "race" with friends.  1.07mile loop around a park on sidewalks.  There were about 25 of us.  Most did the 6 hour, I did the 3.  Well, at 2.5 hours I called it a day.  I got to 10 miles and the ankle was squawking so I said enough.  I ran/walked the first 5 and walked the second.  Happy with it other than the ankle.  Hoping for a bit shy of 6 tomorrow, I have doubts it will happen at all since I work till 5pm...

Rough week.  I had dental work done on Thursday - under general anesthesia.  My dentist prefers that over IV sedation, I don't.  He replaced a crown and fixed a broken cavity.  Unfortunately because I was under, they couldn't tell if the bite was OK and it wasn't.  So back I go this coming Thursday.  This time for an intensive cleaning under the gums and to burr down the crown.  They will do it under IV sedation this time.  Since I have to be put under, I reluctantly consented to the cleaning - about $3000 with sedation - about half of what the cleaning costs.  (Routine is $120)  I have major dental issues and we are trying to save the gums, bone, and teeth in the long run.  Going to see a periodontal specialist sometime to see about gum grafts, that is how bad things are.

Less and less hopeful about Kettle.  2 months.  I don't know if I can even do the 50K.  We shall see...

Great job on the fun run yesterday, Kathryn!

                HCK, how was the half?

I ran another 4 this morning nice and easy. It was windy, but it's just going to get windier this afternoon so glad I got it done. I should run to the store yet this morning since we only have food to cook outdoors and I just know DH is not going to want to be out there tonight. On the other hand, I don't want to be at the grocery store on a weekend. I do kinda want a donut right now though, so maybe I will go.

Got through the HM. It got a little rough towards the end. The B&A trail is nice, but a little weird. I'm looking at the elevation map now and it was slightly uphill in the first half, followed by the downhill & uphill AnonymousGuest mentioned, then downhill/grade the last half. Aside from the real hill, I couldn't tell from looking at the trail if I was really going up or down, it just felt harder in places. Weather was mostly ok, a little wind, but it was no where near as windy as it was yesterday. Had a few spots where I was basically blinded by the sun in the early miles.

KatS, ugh on the dental stuff. I had gone to a consult about the gum grafts years ago and decided against it. It's never progressed enough to justify both the cost and unpleasantness.

GatbsyBird, glad you enjoyed the trip and are home.

AnonymousGuest, I find the grocery store after 4pm on Sundays isn't awful. Only downside is sometimes they are out of things. I stupidly tried to go to Arundel Mills yesterday. That was a huge mistake. I couldn't find a parking spot, drive the loop around it and left.

Docket, hope you're having better weather today.

Feeling like the lungs are bit less gunked up today.  But I still canceled next weekend's 25k.  No point in aggravating the bronchitis just as it seems to be on the way out.  I'm more interested in staying healthy for a 50k in April.  Went for a walk today, bundled up in a hooded jacket with a buff pulled up to keep the wind off my face.  I probably looked a little odd but felt okay, with just a few coughing spells.

Damaris, around one month till London, right?  You've put in some solid training.

Kat, ugh on the dental stuff.  Hope they get you fixed up.

Karen, did the prospect of a donut entice you to hit the grocery store?  Or is the boy grilling in the wind?

Karen, I passed the donut shop on the way to work, I was sad not to stop.  Shipley's, do you have them?

Kathi, nice job on the half.

Margaret, glad your walk felt OK.

SLOW SLOW and SLOW day at work, wowza.  Forced myself out for a few (3.6 miles) after for an even 17 for the week.  Pooped.
