Decided to try a different tactic on this race - go out hard! Not too bad and then settled into pace at maybe 1/2 to 3/4 mile into the race. Still felt very stong at the end though the rolling, short but steep hills took their toll. I snuck a peak over my shoulder as I was sprinting the last 1/4 mile and when I saw no one even close I kind of backed off and coasted in. Good, hard effort.
Last year, ran this race in 19:40 - so a good 33 seconds slower (exact same course). I think I could do much better if I had some rest so not bummed at all. I believe progress is being made.
