Notes

This has the potential to be fast but ... they don't have a start mat even though they have Dchip timing so you'd better get right up on the starting line. I didn't and it probably cost about 3 or 4 seconds. Will check this more carefully from now on. Also, not a lot of competition to push you. I finished 13th overall, 5th in AG(!) but I ran very much alone for the last 2 or so miles. I couldn't see ANY of the 13 who beat me the last two miles. It was like I was leading the race. Very wierd. It was pretty windy due to the storm coming in. Headwind on mile 1 and then again on mile 4, the rest was crosswind. Mile 1wind didn't bother me but I noted it for mile 4. Don't know what happened in mile 3. Good news is I was feeling very much good to run some more at the end of this race.

Most disappointing PR I've ever run.

ETA: Don't feel so bad after thinking about this some more. If I punch this time into the equiv calculators they only predict a 2:59 marathon. But I have significantly faster times at 12K, and 10mile than the calculators predict - and those are run this year. Also have significantly faster 1/2marathon and 30K times than predicted by this race. Also the calculator predicts faster times at all distances shorter than 10K than what I have actually run, this year. I believe I run better than predicted at longer distances (that's what I've trained for) and worse than predicted for shorter distances. So 2:58, and possibly 2:55 if everything is perfect, is still on the radar for Boston next week.
