Every year is always so different at Mt Washington. This was the 5th year in a row for Susan and I. The weather was good for me a tad warm for a lot of the runners. Felt pretty good at the 2 mile mark other years felt like turning around at this point but never did. Saw my comp at this point about 100 yds in front of me. Gained on him from 4 to 5 miles and thought I had a chance to catch him but got a side stitch just past 5 and lost ground rest of the way in. Did beat my other comp Matt who just turned 55. I was surprised to get 3rd overall age grading! Whirlaway teams did very well considering the seniors scored in the open and masters. We were 3rd in open, 2nd masters, 1st senior's and broke senior team record. Jim put us up in his house in Jackson and we had a great time there!!! Mt Washington is the most difficult and challenging race I have ever done in my 42 years of racing but its more then that, its an accomplishment with a very special view and an event I will continue to run as long as I can!!!!
