Notes

Ran 8x400 at a little faster than my 5k goal pace (sub-16, around 5:08/5:09 pace). I was struggling hard. I was so embarrassed, too. I had to rest between each one just so I could run at a speed faster than 7min/mile. I've forgotten how to run hard, how to run fast. I hit from 65-73 each time, most of them being around 69. The thing I don't like is the general trend I'm seeing - that my last one was my slowest. Tempos have always been tough for me, but I don't even have any hills here - it's all flat and I'm still struggling. It's not even that hot, I'm just not cutting it right now. And it's frustrating, thinking about how much I want to improve but my times have shit to show for it.

As a positive, I'm doing much more work than previously, staying consistent, both in running, cross training, eating, and supplements. I am reminded of Seth's words of wisdom after I asked him one day how I can improve, how I can get as good as him. They are words that often get me out and running when I don't feel like it. Simple, too. "There are no secrets to running. It's exactly what you think it is - putting in lots of miles. Most will probably be boring - Just know that hard work pays off. Don't be stupid to the point of permanent injury, but be consistent, trust in your training, and believe."
