I felt so slow today. I tried my first set of 400s at 1:15 with 30 seconds of rest between each one. I didn't think that 30 seconds of rest was going to be tough, but it was harder than I thought. Each 400 in this set was fast - around 1:10-1:11. I took the 5 minutes, then started on my set of 1:10. It was even tougher. I took 45 seconds between each of those just to hit the times. Those were around 1:07 each. I took another 5 minutes and did my last set of 4. Each one was about 1:12, but I took a minute break between each one.

It seems I still can't pace very well. I was aiming for 1:15, and hit 1:10s. I aimed for 1:10s, and hit 1:07s, and originally my last set was going to be 4x400 at 1:05, but I was so tired, I just aimed for sub-1:15. Also, I had to increase my rest between each 400 in each set just to get decent times. I'm glad it wasn't easy, but at the same time, I need to learn to hit a pace better.

So far so good on my goals for the break. It's about halfway done, and the new year starts tomorrow. My running goals were to stay healthy, keep on getting faster, commit to lifting at least once/twice a week, and do an ab workout when I lift. Simple, but realistic. I think today was the first day I didn't hit the times I set out to do (didn't hit the last set of 1:05s). Time to re-evalutate, reflect, and figure out a way to get faster.
