Notes
Planned to run at 7:40 pace - not knowing what to try. I knew that my 10K in June, in warmer temps, was not a good basis. Used my 5k time from the spring in cooler weather...
Mile 1: Holding back to keep at 7:40 pace. Downhill first 1/4 mile put some time in the bank
Mile 2: About half way thru this mile had a lapse and pace dropped nearer 7:55 (at top of Campbell)
Mile 3: Push the downhills - don't rest. Woman passed me and hung with her now closer to 7:30 pace
Mile 4: Thinking about the hill up Harrison - wasn't bad at all. ITBS didn't act up going down the hill either.
Mile 5: Downhill and kept it near 7:20 pace the first half and dropped to 7:00 the last part. Final kick closer to 5:30 pace.
The chip time is 11 seconds over my watch time. I know I was easily 6-7 seconds across the mat after the gun. I also know I was well over the mats when I stopped the watch. Will stick with the "official" time. I measure the course a tad short but within the 1% accuracy of a Garmin (4.95).
