TEMPERATURE: 90/84
COMMENTS: Good ride. Not too many showed up so we were going to tone down the speed a little. Started out at a moderate speed doing a rotating pace line and before long two broke away. Some of us wanted to try to catch them but a few couldn't keep the pace so we backed off. It was not a tiring ride. I payed attention to conserving energy and staying on the next person's wheel and it seems to have paid off. At one point I was very close to someone and must have turned my attention to something. When I look back my wheel was about to touch the wheel in front of me. I managed to balance the bike away from his wheel and brake to get away. Touching a wheel is a guaranteed way to go down. On the way home I didn't feel half as tired as I usually do on a Wed night. Thats a new peak HR for me. It was probably when I almost touched wheels.
