Notes

Went for my long run of the week this morning, and I decided to head out to Rockefeller for the first time in two weeks or so which was a real treat. I had initially planned to do 17 mi, just a bit more than my last long run (which unfortunately was 2 weeks ago now since I didn't go for one last week), but about 7 mi in I decided 18 would be a cool thing to do as it would be a full 20% of my 90ish mile week. But by the 10 mi mark I decided that I would shoot for a 20 mi day, my longest ever by 2 mi, because I was feeling good and it was a nice morning. I managed to do the whole thing while maintaining a solid 6:50 pace, though the last 2 mi or so were a pretty serious struggle as I became pretty thoroughly exhausted, and it was a great feeling to have done such a long run. I followed a fairly hilly route starting from Sleepy Hollow HS and heading over the UP-Down before exploring that area and then looping around back to the visitor center via Stone Barns and eventually going back over to the OCA. I was lucky that I had thought to bring an energy gel with me because otherwise I don't think I would have made it. On my way back home I stopped at the store and bought some ice and had an ice bath when I got back which will make tomorrow feel much better. All in all a great run that I'm really proud of, which brought me to an all-time high 94 mi week while feeling remarkably good.
