Notes

Long run with Nutmeg from Lion's Bridge. We decided to go on the south route today and after getting through some sore feet and calves during the first few miles, I was feeling really good. We cruised into Ely and debated 18 or 20, but we also knew we would have to go into the wind on the way back and decided 18 would be a good choice. We were right, as the wind was bit stronger than both of us had expected. It wasn't miserable, but definitely put a little more fatigue into our legs quickly. It was also some very gradual uphill for about the first 4 miles on the way back. After that we got a bit more tree cover and some downhill that made a few more miles go by quickly enough before getting to the last couple miles of a long run that always feel like you want to be done. We kept the conversation going on some random topics though and I felt pretty good throughout the run. I was ready to be done by the end but also not completely wiped out after doing 18 miles at 6:30 pace.

My last 17 mile run was March of 2018 while Chase was training for his marathon and I had three 17 miles runs in Feb-Mar of the 2017. A couple more 17 mile runs are spread across 2013-2016 but I have to go back to 2012 when I was running 100 mile weeks to top this long run. I did a 19 and a 20 that year along with a bunch of 15+.

Solid run! It's fun to read both your and Nutmeg's versions of your runs together.

By the way, you should have gone for 20!

Yeah, I'm thinking that would be a good goal to hit yet this spring. Pretty crazy that I didn't even make it 18 in the 50k.
