Notes

Run with Nutmeg on the bike path. We started in the rain, which felt really good and detoured off of the trail for a hill workout. Nutmeg also picked up the pace on the warmup and afterward told me he was intentionally doing a short tempo to loosen up before the hill.

After he told me the hill I knew it was likely going to be a rough workout. I haven't run this specific hill but I knew where it was at and a hill on the next street over is one of the toughest around that area. The first one was a solid pace and due to some blind corners neither of us really knew where the top was and it was much further than I had expected. Gradual start followed by a brutal middle section before tapering off around another bend. I was already feeling my legs getting tight after the first 1 so I knew it would be tough. The second one felt worse and I recovered poorly on the downhill recovery, but I adjusted my form a little on the 3rd and that one actually felt better than the second. The form change helped me get through the 4th but at that point it didn't really matter. I was breathing really hard by the top and almost dealing with some nausea on the recovery. Good to get in another shorter workout since I was able to keep up alright. And even though it was a shorter workout it still felt like a good one.
