Tempo with Nutmeg. We warmed up for quite a while before doing 2 miles at tempo pace (5:54, 5:41). This felt like a bit of a strain early on but I didn't know what the workout plan was and was really trying to relax to be able to do another 3-4 miles at this pace. I was finally getting into a rhythm near the end of the second mile and then Nutmeg said we were good. He then mentioned more 2 mile tempos or faster 1 miles and I wasn't really sure how faster miles would go 2 days after a race but I also figured I would try whatever he wanted. So a faster mile is what we decided on and it did not go well. I wasn't really sure what Nutmeg was targeting but it felt uncomfortable from the start. I looked at my watch at ~3:30 and debated giving up, I started to fall a few steps behind Nutmeg but then realized I wasn't going to be able to do much else for a workout so I better at least finish this rep. I caught back up a little but still finished a couple steps behind him for a ~5:13 mile.

Nutmeg didn't feel great for the mile either and decided to go back to another 2 mile tempo. I was pretty exhausted but didn't really want to jog the last 2 miles on my own so I started with him with the hope of making it at least a mile. I felt really tired to start but was able to get my legs back under me a little bit after a few minutes. Nutmeg actually slowed us down a little after ~3 minutes and even though I was tired, part of me felt like the slightly faster pace felt nice. But I wasn't about to complain since I wasn't sure I would make it more than a mile anyway. Then one mile came and went and I was still hanging on, so I just kept moving forward and by the time we only had a couple minutes left I figured I could tough this one out. It was hard, but we made it and actually ran 2 pretty solid miles (5:48, 5:39)

I still feel disappointed in the faster paced mile, but when I look back at the rest of the workout, especially the last 2 mile tempo with really fatigued legs, it actually looks like a much more successful workout.
