I was planning on running 8 miles of a half mile at sub 2:45, half mile at sub 2:55, but my legs weren't feeling good, so I changed it on the fly. My new goal was a progression with one mile at 6:40, mile at 6:10, 4 miles at 5:40 and two miles at sub 5:25. Before deciding this, I ran about 1/3 of a mile at over 7:30 pace, so I had to pick it up and hit 6:37, 6:05, 5:40, 5:38, 5:38, 5:38, 5:24, 4:54. The 5:38s felt a tad harder than I would have liked because I figured running a little faster than MP would be pretty easy by now. The 5:24 wasn't bad and since I've been an emotionally unstable diva lately, I decided to just run hard the last mile and see if I could break 5:00, because I haven't run a mile that fast since January of 2006. It hurt for while I was running but never got any worse after the first quarter mile and I negative split by 6-7 seconds.
