Notes

Two laps of 200m strides, 200m jog and then 6x1600m with 400m jog. With the weather and sleepiness, the goal was at least sub 4:50. I wasn't expecting much because for the past 1.5 hours before this, I laid on the bonus room floor, half-asleep, while Kate played with her toys.

1st: Felt a bit rusty

2nd: Same effort as the first

3rd: Still, the same effort

4th: Knew I should be getting tired by this point but felt good

5th: Got a little bit tired by the end but still felt in control

6th: Even though I was feeling good, I didn't want to overdue it and force myself to hit a time, so I decided to go out normally and if I ran 67, to hang on there and take it a lap at a time. Went 67, 67, 68, 67. The last one wasn't too hard while I was running but I sat on the grass for a few minutes afterward. I believe that is the first time I've run under 4:30 for a 1600m since 2005.

My glutes were dead tired on the second and third ones, but they never got any worse. I need to start some additional strength stuff soon.

I was really happy with the times based off my effort and the fact I was soaked by the end, which meant the weather was probably worth three seconds or more per mile. I need to start raising my standards and believing I can hit these times rather than having an "aw-shucks" attitude and being surprised when I run them.
