Dew Point=62

When I went to bed, the weather was supposed to be a little over 60 at 6am. When I woke up, it was already 68 and was supposed to stay that way for a few hours, so I took my time getting ready.

Goal was 18 at 5:37 (which would be two miles longer and 5s faster than last month) but I wouldn't mind the roundness of 5:35. Got out quicker than last time, so I tried to stay in a rhythm, rather than slowly speeding up over time. At around the halfway point, I was feeling a little tired and wasn't sure how I would do. It never got any worse, so I was able to keep on going. I was getting pretty thirsty, so I stopped by my car at 14ish for a bottle of water. I had some stomach trouble for a while and once I got on New Hope, I really had to use the bathroom. Luckily, there was a portajohn on the construction site, not too far off the road. I felt good at 17 and I was going to pick it up some for the last half mile, but my legs didn't want to turn over and I struggled to increase the pace.

Overall, it was a good run. I made some progress over last time and feel like I'm more fit than last month. Because I've had four easy days in a row, I was going to do a special block of 6 miles at sub 6:00+6 miles at 5:15 and then 6 miles at sub 6:00+10x1k at 5:00 pace with 2:00 standing rest in the afternoon, but the weather is supposed to be 80ish this afternoon, which will put more stress on my body. I also have to go to a birthday party this afternoon, and in between the special block runs, I eat a little bit of fats and proteins, with little to no carbs, in order to keep my glycogen low. Knowing myself, I would not be able to deny myself cake and ice cream.

Also had some off and on rain on this run, which kept me a little cool.

Hey man, nice workout. Do you have any more of these before your marathon? I'd love to join you for 10-14 miles next time you do one.

I was going to run this next weekend and didn't decided until last night to run this. I'm probably doing a long run this Saturday. If you want to jump in, we could meet at the wave pool, and go to the dam and back, which is over 16 miles. If you want more, you can cross the bridge into Shelby Bottoms.

After saying that, I just realized that I'm going to be out of town for the next two weekends, so unless you were planning one mid-week, it might have to wait until after your marathon
