My GPS said 12.56, Brent's showed 13.3, Johnny Clemmons' showed 13.6, so we will call it the typical half. Started out way too fast, and slowed down around 4 miles or so. After we made our way to the other side of the park, I got rolling for a mile or two, then backed off again. I ran the last few miles at a pretty relaxed effort and was definitely going slower than marathon effort. When I finished, I felt really in control aerobically, but my legs and especially my right IT band were tired.

Stopped at each water stop for a few seconds and downed a cup or two.

First part was a wood trip trail that was insanely soft. The wood chips absorbed all of your force and gave no energy return, which made it hard to run. Had some decent, short climbs.

The second section was hard dirt and was single track. After a couple of miles, there were tons of twists and turns, a lot of huge "speed bumps" and a good, slow climb.
