Notes
The course was a litte tougher than I thought... there was one really steep hill that changed the whole shape of my ride, which prior to that was going pretty well. While every few minutes a >$5,000 bike would hum past me.. the disc wheels producing that odd sound, I was holding my own with people with bike's in my class and even out pacing a few of the more expensive bikes. However, I hit that hill and was caught in the big ring and did not want to risk coming out of it on the hill... I expended way too much energy. The rest of the ride was about survival and hanging onto whatever I could. I had some numbness issues by the end of the ride as well. It was extremely tough and I obviously could use more work on the bike than any other part of the tri as this is where I was below average. Still a lot of fun but I honestly wanted to quit in T2.
