I tried to make this like dress rehearsal nutrition-wise. So I alternated eating a gel then waffle every half hour. That would be 250 calories per hour. I also tried to go really slowly so I could keep my heart rate and effort down.

I am clearly still sore from yesterday and my overall higher mileage weeks. My legs were definitely aching. I found it hard to keep the effort low enough to feel comfortable eating this much without dropping down to about 10 minute pace. Also, that third gel was not appealing at all. I can't imagine having a 4th after that. But the waffles are working. Maybe I can switch to a sports drink with waffles. Maybe I can try some of those shot blocks? Maybe just need to go even slower.
