Notes

Beautiful day for a run - but boy did I feel fat and out of shape today.

Garmin measured the course as about 1/2 mile short. My left arch had a little pain about mile in. Not long after, I rolled my right ankle - so that made me forget about the arch pain. Both pains were gone after another mile or two.

The trail was lots of loose dirt, a little rocky in places with a little mud here and there. Several nice up and downs through the hills, ravines, and creek bottoms. Trail running is definitely different from road running. Like one old guy said while we were eating lunch afterwards: "You can't just run on autopilot out on the trails. You've got to pay attention if you don't want to rub your face in the mud".

Ran it with Richard from work and Modal (Tim). It was all of our first trail race and we ran the whole race together - Tim and Richard pulled ahead in the last 200 yards or so. I didn't bother. Today was just a jog through the woods for me. And a nice one at that. I may have to sign up for the full marathon or the 50 miler next year.

Saw lots of familiar faces from other races today.
