Notes

Crisp morning run at 7am. I'm starting to get back into a routine of waking up in time to go for a morning run - I love it! The training log called for a "Short easy run + Short Strides 4 x 50m with 2min recovery between intervals". I wasn't going to run at the track (the High School kids were already going to school at that time), so I did my usual 3.2 mile lake loop and added in Short Strides of 10 seconds each (probably a little longer than 50m, but I'd rather go a little longer than shorter). Wow! I loved those little bursts of sprinting! I felt so light and agile as I brought it up to full speed for 10 seconds and then slowed it down. (I'm sure if I ran these at the track I would not have felt so fast as I'd see how much ground I cover in 10 seconds and remember that World Class sprinters can cover a full 100m in this time!). It's interesting to see how these four short bursts contributed to my pace - Mile 1 was 10:15 and Mile 2 was 9:03! I guess revving it up a few times during the 2nd mile kept me on a faster pace as Mile 3 (all "easy" running) was 9:36. Totals were 3.2 miles, 30:55 (9:38 pace), avg HR 157.
