Notes

First 10k race. Hadn't even done any 10k time trials before. Guaranteed PR.

Did not plan to run this race, so was doing 2 long runs during the week. Decided to run race the day before race due to cancellation of weekend plan, so it was a concern that I had not recovered enough. The morning before race is daylight-saving time change, so lost 1 hour of sleep, slept at most 4 to 5 hours. Got up at 6 and ate banana and a little gatorade.

Race morning has good weather. No rain or wind, cool temp, and ~70% humidity. Did not have a real plan, just needed to make sure I run a slower pace than my 5k PR last month, shooting for around 7min/mi. The hills killed my pace. Race prediction calculator put the 10k time at 43:37, very surprised to have beaten it by > 1 minute without fresh legs.
