Notes

7 hrs of sleep. Got there with plenty of time, did a good warm up and some striders, started a bit fast, but then settled into a good rhythm. Felt strong in the early hills, mile 6 was hard but I felt strong after feeling a couple of bad patches during the hillier miles. Finished with a pretty strong kick in the last 300m (felt like I was finishing a 5k). Perhaps I saved a bit more in the tank from expecting an uphill finish.

Overall felt pretty good about the effort. Calves felt a bit sore & tight immediately afterwards, but had an easy recovery jog and this helped.

Took a long nap later in the afternoon and that helped too. Did some stretching, some core work and push ups.

1st half: 34:05.31 (6:49 pace)

2nd half: 35:05 (7:01 pace)

Interesting bit: 10 years ago I ran 1:16:40.34
