Came into the session hoping for 3xmile in 5:50 to 6:00, a comfortable threshold effort. That was assuming the beautiful conditions we had for the last session, of course. This weather is miserable and I was so lethargic. To compound it, I went out in 83 and fucked it all up. At that point, I wanted to positive split around a 5:50, then do two at 6:00. After just a one minute rest, though, it's hard to recover from that initial burst of lactic acid. I hurt pretty bad on the second one, and obviously messed the pace up again. Thus, I pulled the plug. I don't want to dig myself in a hole, and this was way way harder than threshold effort. So I didn't really achieve the purpose of the workout at all, which is extremely frustrating considering the time I put into this session. I did do 2x20 second strides before the workout, and the same after. So four strides total. And, my shin/calf is bugging me. I ran these counterclockwise to try to even things out on my legs, so hopefully that was effective. But I'm thinking I ought to just do my next session off of the track to try to calm down on the pace. Maybe, not sure how I would do that, though. Going to recover aggressively, get through tomorrow morning with Hunter, then take a day off. Just trying to survive..
