Good workout part with John, except for the injury which I will explain at the end. Went out in 1:31 just perfectly and was very happy with myself. Hit the mile in around 6:02ish. Then accidentally ran a big negative split even as it was starting to hurt. 5:49 second mile. John was dropped after half a lap and ran 10:36 for two miles. After only a minute rest, I rolled again. Out in 1:27 even though I was trying to be controlled. It started hurting pretty bad, so I'm not sure if I was over threshold or not, but I was grinding. I think I went 5:53/5:48 on the second one, with a 1:23ish last lap. Sat down and enjoyed the bliss of no more pain, changed my shoes, stood up, and my calves both just quit on me. They hurt pretty bad, and I knew that they were not even fully cooled down so would hurt a lot more in a few minutes. I tried to jog a few steps and prudently skipped the cool down, let alone the strides. When I got back to my apartment I could hardly walk, the pain was so intense. After I got the injury, I expected it to be a two week thing. But putting the compression sleeves on healed it in two days (I'm writing this on Saturday.) I'm so relieved that it healed, even though I missed running on my birthday, I know that I'll be much better-prepared for indoors in this case.
