Good solo track workout at the high school. I went out hoping that 82 would feel pretty easy and it did not. It was a grind and the pain just built and built, but that's running. Went 82, 82, 79, 77 on the first one. Stood for 50 seconds, jogged a 400 in 1:41. 84, 83, 80, 78 on the second one. Stood/walked for 2:45. Negative split both 800s, and took a 2:00 stand break in between. Wasn't trying to drop it down so fast, I was just worried that the pace would falter as the lactic acid built up. This is the kind of work I need right now. I'm so anaerobically rusty it's upsetting. I need to get some real lactic acid back in my legs so I can actually go out hard and maintain in races and workouts. Even this pace didn't feel super fast speed-wise, it just really really hurt aerobically. This adds up to 4800 meters in 15:58, so like 5:21 pace per mile, or a 16:35 5k. There's no way I could run that right now, but this work will get me closer to that. Also, suffering like this takes my mind off of other things which are very distressing right now. My heart isn't really in running right now, but I'm grinding to get back. Faking it til I make it.
