Notes
Somewhat disappointing race. It is my first race back. The weather was beautiful. I saw Ben True there. I had planned on a win here because I thought Zack was hurt and I didn't know Lebanon would show up. Well, Zack ran, and ran hard. Lebanon has Josh Fontaine and another guy named Zack who I've never heard of. Anyway, the race went out a little harder than I expected, and it felt really fast to me. I haven't run fast in quite a while. Willie was on my shoulder for a while at the beginning, but I pulled away from him eventually. The lead pack of Zack and the two Lebanon guys was established quickly with me in fourth, in no man's land. I didn't quite catch my mile split, but Willie was a bit behind me and he was 5:47. So I'll call it about 5:40. The leaders were about ten seconds up. I was caught by another Lebanon guy here and ran with him for a while. Then the second Lebanon guy fell off of Zack and I caught him. He said "nice job" in the middle of the race! What a nice kid. So I traded places with him a lot, him pulling away on the downhills because I was being careful, and me making up on the flats. Eventually he pulled away, leaving me in fourth. The third Lebanon guy came up on me as well in the last half mile, but I put him away in the last 400. Finished up in 18:58, PR for the course. Not bad. Zack really hammered it though and ran 18:14. That's very impressive. So I'm satisfied with the time, just other kids performed far better than I expected them to today.
