REST DAY

Unplanned rest day, but no time unless I wanted to hit the treadmill. Treadmill didn't happen as I was out looking for a new car most of the day since my transmission is apparently shot to the tune of $1-3K. GRRRR. I wanted to buy a new car next year, but it looks like it will happen sooner. This is a good thing, but I HATE spending so much money unless I am going to get my 2-seater sporty convertible back. Not going to happen with 2 kids and Wisconsin winters.... :( THEN we got home and J-man overflowed the toilet. No big deal you would think. BUT, there was half an inch of water on the floor in their bathroom. I cleaned it up and Bean started screaming b/c water was dripping out of the ceiling fan in the great room downstairs and out of the light over the fire place. Next place, yep - the basement. Crazy. Missed karate due to the water crisis. Then we went off to J-man's first grade open house. It was cool. I am so proud. It was a very good day. But no running. And John is now off being a rock star.

With all that said, I feel awesome. My legs haven't felt this good in months. Mentally too. So what with the weather. I am ready and I am so looking forward to the "marathon" experience. It really is my fave race. As I told Amy today, no matter the weather, my legs have never looked so good!!!

Today we were at the grocery store and they were giving away NFL mini helmets for some reason. The kids thought they hit the lottery. It was actually so much fun to see them so happy over such a trivial thing. I was explaining to them on the way home the concept of "life's little pleasures." I told them to enjoy it because if you only focus on the big stuff, so much greatness passes you by. Made me think too of course. Even if my race is not the big breakout I wanted it to be, boy did I have some crazy and fun experiences on the way.

Yeah. It was a good day.
