First ever Butte to Butte. Went out hard but steady up the hill in 5:45 sitting in probably 7th or 8th place. Rob, Dan K, and a former Duck went out hot at about 5:28 up the hill. I hammered the down pretty hard in 4:42 moving up to 5th at one point. Eventual 3rd place finisher Greg Mitchell passed me back near the bottom of the hill. 3rd mile was a struggle but still just shy of 5 flat. Last three miles stunk ... 5:20, 5:24, 5:25 ... to finish a bit disappointed in 6th place. I was pretty maxed out down High Street doing what I could to hold pace but sapped from the early part of the race. I did catch up to Rob but he had plenty left and hoofed it away from me to the finish for 5th place. Good run, loved the course, will do it again. Josh ran really well among the many other familiar faces of Eugene. Thoughts for next year: get recovered over the first part of the downhill and start hammering on the bottom half.
