Back at the Coburg Half. Eugene offers some great races. Katie ran in Creswell yesterday and finished at a city park. Today's race also finished at a city park. Perfect for each of us to run one race and the other to easily entertain Kiki and Dagny during. Today also featured a free kids race that Kiki loved running. The best part was she got to cross the actual finish line and the Sheldon dance team threw a party for the kids racers. Should plan to do this weekend every year in The Huge. The race went just alright for me. I started fast on purpose, hoping that recent mileage would carry me through. Brad showed at mile 1 for a little bit. Then I hit the headwind heading north. My initial plan was to hammer into the headwind and let the tailwind take me home. Unfortunately, I used way to much on the way out into the wind and could not take advantage of the slight tailwind. I was toast at 10 and totally cooked at 11. Luckily, Brad showed up in the Chvatal Ortho-Mobile and kept me honest down the homestretch with some positive vibes. The race was fun, I got the win, but I still have some work to do to get back to fitness after some serious post-Eugene Marathon laziness.
