Paced my 800 guy in the mile. His previous PR for the mile came during football season where he ran 5:25. When we started, my watch said that we were on 4:47 pace through the first 300...I thought there is no way that he would be able to hold this....came through the 800 in 2:23, then tried to press the pace down because he was still with me. Hit the last lap...and he took off...I could not kick him down. He crossed in 4:47! He's a dam 400/800 guy! Looking for really big things next year...maybe 1:52 range. I was dead with 300 to go! Dam marathon...takes the speed out of you!
