Fox and Turkey 4 mile race. The start of this race was uphill, which I was not looking forward to. At the start, the typical high school kids took off and me and about 4 others stayed behind until maybe 1200 meters or so. Then some random runner takes off and starts sprinting...nobody went with him as he only lasted a little past the mile. At the mile, this high school kid took the lead and started to press the pace down. Hit the mile in 5:18. He had about a 5 second lead on me, but I could not gain anything on him the whole race. No 2 mile marker, but saw my 3 mile time of 16:18, then I tried to kick for the last mile and did make up some ground, but could not hold the kick the whole time. He ended up beating me by about 5-7 seconds I think. Talked to him after the race....he's a kid from Schaumburg who ran 15:20 at state a few weeks ago. I dont know how to feel after this race....really didnt put myself in the race like I wanted to and got beat by a high school kid. Never the less, ran faster this year than last and hamstring didn't bother me at all. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
