Went out with the top two freshman girls on an out and back. I didn't allow anyone to pass them until the turn around. then I turned the middle school kids loose. Top girl and top boy took off instantly. I let them go thinking they'd come back to earth. Top girl killed my top boy. He was walking with two miles to go. She has done more long runs. I did my best to reel her in but couldn't. I made it close in the last mile. But she saved a little for a final kick and She ended up beating me by about 40 meters. I did pause briefly at the 5 mile mark to check on the top boy. But it was a legit win for her.
