Notes
Decent race - legs weren't at their best (only 4 hrs of sleep on the couch w/ Adam), but weren't bad. Was aiming to go out around 5:20. Group of 3 went out ahead, but started coming back around the 3/4 mile mark. First mile was about what I wanted. Tried to keep that pace for the 2nd mile and avoid the usual slowdown. As a result, caught the lead group and took the lead early in mile 2. Led the group through the 2 mile mark and then opened a little gap on the hill at 2. Maintained that gap and stretched it out a little more on the little hill around 2.5. Thought I heard someone closing soon after that, but continued to try to accelerate (which really just meant I maintained), and the footsteps faded. Coming around the last 2 turns took a peek back and saw that I had a comfortable enough lead. Kept driving it in, gave a little wave to the boys, and finally got first place in this race. Jered and Brandon were excited after, so that was fun.
Overall, time was a little slower than hoped, but the win was the main goal, and I'm happy. A nice close to a good Fall racing season.
