Notes
Foxboro Old Fashioned Ten Miler - Pretty much as expected, no big surprises either way. Was planning to run 5:40 pace through the early miles, but was hoping it would feel easier. The pace never really felt easy like last year, but that's because I knew my fitness level better this year. Over the first 3 miles it felt pretty decent, then I started struggling a little bit over the next several. I kept the pace up, but was worried I wouldn't be able to keep it up much longer - fortunately, I was able to. Between 4 and 5-6 the 2 or 3 guys I had been running with pulled away a bit, but I managed to hold the gap over the hills. Made it to the top of the last hill with just over 2 to go and was able to pick it up a bit over the last 2 flat miles. Unfortunately the guy I was trying to catch picked it up as well, and the gap between us stayed the same. Last 2 miles were 5:33, 5:29.
Finish time was about 40 secs faster than last year, and the wind felt a bit more to me this year than last. I'm satisfied with this race, it shows I'm at least on par with last year if not a little ahead. A few more weeks of good mileage and I think I'll be in good shape for Boston.
