I'm calling this a tempo based solely on my perceived effort for the last couple of miles. This was actually kind of a dumb decision. This should have been a slow and easy run, but.... First run in more than a week, wearing a new pair of Kinvaras, I just felt chippy out of the gate and got rolling way too fast early on. The turnover felt great, but after mile 3 it started to feel tough. The hills coming back up to Overton were especially tough. Normally the last mile levels out effort-wise, but I felt like I was pushing to maintain this pace all the way to the end. I think if I had held the miles to closer to 7-flat it would have been better. Oh well, I felt like a fatty for not running for the whole week of vacation so I think part of it was me trying to prove something to myself.
