Tried to do a short version of race day plan. walked 1.5 miles then ran my 2 miles in 3 increments: 3/4 mile with 1/3 walk, 1/2 mile with 1/2 walk, and 3/4 mile. The longer intervals felt fine, did feel pretty long after short intervals for so long, but didn't hurt and didn't feel winded or tired after them. Muscles in toes still seem to take the brunt of the pain, and no pain in foot at any part!
