Notes

This was an awesome run and also a very frustrating one. the 1st mi - 2nd mi is almost always drudgery, but this one made me wonder what why this 41 year old, 20 lb overweight Oreo cookie lover is doing in 25 degree winter weather is doing out running his butt off. But then, tonight I hit about 1.5 mi and I started feeling good. My body had some rhythm and the ground began moving smoothly under me. My breathing was in control and I felt good. I did no walk breaks tonight and I did not even check my watch to keep track of my speed. I knew I was doing well. So understandably, when I hit the 3 mi mark and looked down to see a 37:20 on time ... I was understandably distraught. That is a 12:25 mi. That's a 5.42 hour marathon. that is unacceptable. I don't yet know what pace I can keep for a distance of 26.2 mi, but I don't want it to be an almost 6 hour scenario. Even if I can get it down to an 11 min/mi pace that would still be 4.8 hour marathon. Lord, help me!

Added slightly later:

OK. I just looked over my runs since the first of the year. 12:25 is my fastest pace up to date. Now, looking back I see improvement. Thank you, Lord. Is there a chance that I could do a 10 min/mi pace which would put me at a 4.37 hour marathon. That would be awesome.
