Notes

I wanted at least a 2 hour run and preferrably 15 miles for this day, and i woke up ready to run this morning. Started early to get a few miles in b4 meeting up with the group for 7 A.M. LR. Temps were not bad but the humidity was really thick and i knew that within my 1st mile. The first 3 miles downtown went well then we met w/the group and headed up Greenbrier St. towards Coonskin and that 1st hill was a doozy! I did feel pretty strong though considering i had 60 miles this week coming in to this run, and ran pretty strong up into Coonskin park on the little rollers, except one i misjudged inside the park, and i was forced to walk for about 5 seconds or so. We stopped at the clubhouse to use the restroom and get some water. I took a gel and i had been drinking Gatorade along the run,but right after starting back on the trail, i began getting lightheaded and dizzy and about 10.5 i had to stop to walk because it was so bad, then it subsided then within the next mile i started having nausea and the cramps kicked in really bad. When i started having the cramps and eventually spasms i knew that i was dehydrated and bad! I started dry heaving at around 11 miles or so, but nothing on my stomach. I managed to run and walk on a couple of occasions until we got closer to Laidely. At 12 miles the group stopped to decide what everybody was going to do for additional mileage, then i realized i had another gel which i took that allowed me to finish o.k. to get the 14 miles and right at 2hrs. I think it was an old problem i've had in the past: taking in enough electrolytes to minimize the associated damages the electrolyte loss can do. I am a severely salty sweater which can b really bad on a high humidity day like today. It did'nt go exactly as planned today, but still a good conclusion to another 70+ mile week. Next week will b another test on endurance, speed and stamina. Hopefully i will get a passing grade.
