Easy Run from UC on Short Bridge/Carriage Trail Loop

Felt good and fully recovered all day today and was eager to run this evening and i wanted to do this loop since i had'nt been up the trail in a week or so. I really had to force myself to hold back even in the first couple of miles going down the blvd just to try to get an easier run b4 speedwork tomorrow night, and i kept the effort moderate going up the trail then i just picked the effort up slightly on the way back down the trail and really felt smooth and controlled even with the faster than normal pace on the way back to UC. It's amazing what a small reduction in volume at the beginning of the taper can do for the pace even on the easy runs. Eight miles is a significant cut back compared to what i have been running on these higher mileage weeks i've been running recently. I am still planning on trying to hit between 65 to 70 miles for this week and cut back to 50% of peak mileage(87) for 2 weeks out then way back on the last week. I still plan on focusing on intensity and emphasis on marathon pace or just slightly faster for most of the quality work left to b done.
