update: don't notice any improvements with my back yet. I am going to start leaving my computer at work too. That leaves me absolutely nothing to do at home except watch CNN, BBC, or German television. Will see if this change does anything. I would not have expected that my backpack was too heavy - it is basically my backpack, water bottle (empty - made that change some time ago), rain coat, and groceries.
