Notes
Really surprised at how well this went! I did the first 4ish as a solid tempo run. I felt really good late in the race, so I decided to push the pace a bit. I kicked a bit too soon.. was hanging on for dear life the last half mile of the race! I did pass a lot of people the last mile or so, which was kind of fun.
I really had no intention of really racing this at all, let alone trying to PR. I didnt even realize I did PR until I started thinking about it after the race! I knew it was faster than the 10k I did at Victory in Sept, but I didnt even remember what my 10k PR was pre-surgery was! I had to look it up. This was actually a fairly similar effort to what I did at Victory (solid tempo effort the first several miles, then pushed the pace at the back end) -- just with faster results :).
The footing was better than I expected, but it still wasnt great. I felt like i took a lot of extra steps trying to find areas with the most traction. There was one really long stretch up a gradual incline in mile 4 where i couldnt get good traction anywhere .. so to PR in not great footing is pretty darn good!
